Pain demands to be felt is a famous line from John Green’s masterpiece which has the title “Fault in our Stars.” Pain is part of signs and symptoms from an existing sickness or as simple as after exerting too much effort and body system can no longer handle it. The most argumentative pain is psychalgia also known as psychogenic pain. Due to the fact that this kind of pain has not clearly defined reason it usually makes everyday life difficult for those who suffer from it. Pain caused by psychological factors can lead to wrong ideas about personal relationships, everyday life issues, misconception about health related issues. Fearful patients tend to feel pain even before their doctors start examining them. This is how myths about scary treatment procedures are created, for example the misconception about dental implants causing too much pain.
All medical books define pain as damage with tissues or body parts which causes body pain that means something really happened like an accident or a symptom of another sickness or complication but for psychalgia, pain existed because it is in our minds and forcing our body to feel pain without any reason.
The following may have caused this circumstance:
- Peer pressure
- Social rejecting
- Verbal abuse and cyber bullying
- Home or lovesickness
These are all emotional experiences and there are more which don’t cause any physical damage. Our mind is a very powerful yet deceitful part of body that can ask our system to work on a different way so it can command our bodies to be in pain even if we are not hurt physically making as fulfil that demand and we lose control which leads to a more serious and chronic psychalgia known as somatoform disorder which is persistent. Antidepressants or analgesic can be provided to lessen the pain but there is no antibiotic or medical cure made specifically for this not unless that person in pain moves out from emotional burn out but that will never be easy because asking your mind to think of the right thing when it just inflicted pain somewhere will be a long process and it is not guarantee that you will get out of it completely because it may recur. As early as now, check how high is your stress or emotional suffering because prevention is still better than cure.
